What car seats can be used on plains?

I will be traveling from NM to TN with a transfer in Denver in June with my 2yr old. I have already gotten the tickets through Frontier Airlines. He will have his own seat and I know he will have to use a car seat. There are certain car seats that are acceptable and I just need to know if the one I just ordered for him is or not. It is: Evenflo – Chase Booster Car Seat, Winchester Style. If any one has a site to recommend or personal experience, please let me know. Please and thank you.

Car seats are never required but always a good idea. Not only is it safer for your child but means your car seat gets to the same destination at the same time. Air travel is safe but car travel less so and for both legal and safety reasons, you’re wise to take it with you.

I’m a former Flight Attendant with three children. I always fly with one car seat.

But I can’t find any proof of FAA certification for this specific seat.

But look on the seat itself. Here’s what it should look like;

Also look at your owner’s manual. If it is FAA approved, it will only be approved in the “harness mode” using the internal, 5 point harness. Used as a booster, it will not be approved. Boosters need a shoulder strap which airplanes don’t have.

At age 2, he should be still using it in the harness mode. It’s not recommended that children under age 4 use a harness for safety reasons. They don’t hold small children well in accidents (in the car!)

If the FAA approval is not obvious on the seat, and since you have time, contact Evenflo and they can send you another sticker. Also, you can take the manual which explains that it is FAA approved in harness mode.

If it is not FAA approved, I’d recommend getting another seat, prehaps one that can keep him in a harness longer (i.e. a Britax or a Radian) or something inexpensive but still very safe like the Cosco Scenera. Borrow a seat if possible. Most car seats sold in the U.S. are FAA approved but double check on the size, especially if it’s more that 17″ wide.

Never check a car seat as luggage. They are too often lost and/or broken en route and then how would your child ride in a car in Tennessee?

For getting it through the airport, I simply strap mine to a small foldable metal luggage cart. Use an extra bungee cord if necessary. I use this instead of a stroller (either borrowing or checking it). My 3 year old could ride in this contraption when too tired to walk in the airport.

Just curious to see who actually had car seats shipped from this whole thing – I ordered a Cowmooflage one from Target through Amazon for $59.99 and it’s actually on its way. I never luck out like that – I feel like I won the lottery =P Anyone else get lucky?
It was the actual car seat – they apparently mis-priced it and canceled most of the orders that people placed, but a few got through.

All I got was a email stating that the price was an error, and that my order had ben cancelled.

Does anyone have the Britax Boulevard car seat, Convertible – Sutton?

I'm about to buy what was happening and some reviews and wondered if he had anything to say about this? My son has chubby legs, instead of to think this seat will be fine? thanks:)

I Britax Marathon. I wanted the Boulevard, but was not yet available in Canada. Since they are more or less the same thing (the boulevard with more padding for toddlers) I thought I would give my two cents. I love mine. I do not know how old your baby, but is still young enough Britax ready to stay in the car. We wake up all the time when he was out of the car seat. We just bought a Peg Perego SIP (a car seat is good, but I can not stand the way the harness loops) that can be removed from the car (the base is closed in the car) and car seat can be attached to a stroller (only specific strollers are supported). Anyway, Anyhow, not love getting up every time we're in an exit, but still really love my Britax seat is also better money! Good luck!

My son is 11 months fell ill, the other day for eggs and vomited around the car seat. I have suffered, but now when it's hot, the smell of eggs. (This degree days over 100 degrees.) I was wondering if it is difficult to put the seats fabric on the back of the plastic? Because if so, I'll wash tomorrow, so I can take you back to where we bought the car seat and have issued by a professional. He struggled to make car seat for your baby together again after cleaning?

As long as you pay attention when making it is not too difficult to climb. My biggest problem is always to make sure the straps do not touch me as I threaded through the cover.
